Shame and pride

Shame and pride

Walk together in stride

They see eye to eye

They speak the same language

Shame and pride

Both steal and divide

One brings low

And the other brings high

But they both do the same damage

They say:

“I’m all alone

I sit on a throne

I’m all alone

I’ll never belong

I’m greater

I’m smaller

You’re bigger

You’re taller”

But child I’m telling you

There’s only one thing they both do:

They both get you to think you’re alone
