Legitimate
Legitimate
by Joel Howard
When You listen to me I feel
Your eyes staring into the depths of my cry
I feel You breathe new life in me
When You call my name
When You listen to me You say,
"Child, you're legitimate! You're not out of place!"
Here today I feel Abba's heart run to me
As I stumble home at the end of my own way
Like the prodigal come
I return as a son though my weariness just begs
For the bread of a hired man
God in His infinite mercy extends
all the bounty He holds in His infinite hand
And I come home safely though I'd lost my way
"My son, my daughter, you're legitimate," He says
And His smile over me never, ever ends!
