Extremes

Extremes
by Joel Howard

I've been teaching my daughter: "Never say never or always or forever when talking of pain or the condition of your soul" so I was surprised today and fully overjoyed when Savanna broke through while playing with her sister, saying: "I'll never be happy if!...I mean I will wait for you..." when conflicted of interest she for once chose patience instead of extremes; I sat there and beamed for my daughter at age five had learned what I did not until age thirty-four: Extremes leave you empty in a room with closed doors - But waiting, yes waiting and patience and calm can carry you further into a new realm where God only knows what impossibles happen when you and I linger instead of choosing to panic.
