Panic or prayer?

My request too oft has been a demand

my worry like panic has been

instead of seeing you as a faithful friend

instead of actually praying!

Devils' lies have inspired me to take my stand

and challenge your affections and where we've been

instead of holding to what you've given

my faithful, faithful friend!

So when silence is all that holds me back

from doubting you, and claiming lack,

then silence will be my best friend, O Jesus!

And if panic can be now deterred

by denying myself a single word

I'll love you when nothing is heard, O Jesus!

I will choose prayer over doubting,

prayer over panic,

prayer over Satan any day!

And when in the waiting

I can be found praying

then patiently I'll be found there, O Jesus
