Fight or flight or rest

We have heard it said

At universities they teach 

of the fight or flight mentality 

"Survival of the fittest" - Darwin said

The strong get stronger and only the strong win

But at another wavelength my God whispers 

a quiet alternative to the Darwin word

Instead of two choices, fight or flight

God offers three

When in conflict of soul we are given a third solution

Don't just panic and act 

and don't just run and hide

Darwin had not God on his side

For with God we skip fighting in our own strength 

And with God we are called not to run but to wait

The third is our destination of choice

Not fight nor flight but to rest in His voice

This the secret the prodigal son came home to know

May we experience it now before we go
