Go my way

GO MY WAY
by Joel Howard, October 2016
I am David, On a hillside.
Left out of the chosen
'til I’m sent for
'til I’m summoned
'til I play my music
for the King.
I am David.
I am Jesse’s son.
I am still the one
left home to tend the sheep

While the brothers fight
the battle, while I stay

and learn to go my way

Go my way
I will go my way
Yet another day
I will go my way
I will go my way

And like David,

when summoned
to carry bread
I will go to see

This giant they call Goliath
who doesn’t intimidate me

“Who will go fight him?”

People shy away.

“Who will go fight him?”

Are the words they say.

I see it now: “The failure child.”
Yet in my heart of hearts
I won’t fear this war.

For the Lord who was with
my sheep in the wilderness
Also walks with me through this

I will go my way.
I will go my way
These are the words I say.
I will go my way

Take me to battle
Try your armor on me.
My God is the one
writing my story.

I mustn't walk in the
way of the wicked
No, I will delight in
You, God, forever!

I will go my way.

Hear the enemy taunting.

I will go my way

See the giant falling.

I will go my way

“Long live the king”, people calling

I will still go my way

I will yet go my way

I will yet go my way!

           with Him…
