No other way

You can't have revelation
without the mystery,
victory without struggle,
joy without loss.
We can't know a Savior
apart from depravity,
knowing our humanity
leads to the cross.
I won't see Jesus
unless, first squinting,
I lift these eyes
up from the dirt
of all of this hurt and
find the embrace of a God
who gives and takes away;
there's no other way
for this man, this home today
