Where I get my love

Where I get my love
by Joel Howard

I was thinking about the journey
The grueling nature of the road
The pushing and pulling
Survival, survival
Survival, survival, survival

On every road, though
This is the hope:
Through every trial, friend
This our hope:

Where I get my love
Is not in the pushing and striving
Where I get my love
Is not in the doing and dying
Where I get my love
Compassion and hope
Where I get it is when I can slow
When I can slow down

Trauma, panic and fear
Traveling voices in and out of my ears
I fear I may never let go
But You keep pulling me close

On every path, mind you
This is the hope:
Through every flame, man
This is our aim:

Where I get my love
Is not in the coming and going
Where I get my love
Is not in the doing and dying
Where I get my love
Compassion and hope
Where I get it is when I can finally slow
When I can finally slow down

Why must we slow every day?
Why did God make it this way?
Maybe He just wants to tell us
More than once a month He loves us!
Three times a day we need bread and water
How much more the voice of our heavenly Father?

Where I get my love
Is not in the doing and chasing
Where I get my love
Is not in the accelerating
Where I get my love
Compassion and hope
Where else can I go?
When I can finally slow, slow down
When no one else is around
That's where my Love is found!
