This day

This day
by Joel Howard

I woke up today and tried with all my might to find a moment of quiet. But between watching one kid, or the next, or the next, or simply trying to get the family ready for church, it was not going to happen!

When I sat at church and wondered why I couldn't have slowed myself down during the morning, I was reminded of a song I had sung to my oldest daughter after disciplining her for her defiance.  It went like this:

"There's only one you
There's only one you
And you are just who
I've meant for you to be

There's only one you
There's only one you
And I will love
you forever, eternally

There's only one you
There's only one you
You can't escape from
my love today

There's only one you
There's only one you"

As I sat in church and realized that my morning was nothing but hustle and bustle in being a dad, I remembered in that moment that my own Father is busy taking care of me at all times.  I focused in on the words I had sung over Savanna and how warmly she had received them from me and I figured my morning was as it was but throughout it God was singing over me, warmly.

There were a couple lines from Pastor Basil's sermon this morning that stood out to me too and I'd like to share them with you:

"I am grateful for the tension that keeps us looking up"

"You travel a planned path"

"When the bottom falls out, look up"
