I don't have to abide by the famine
I don't have to abide by the famine
by Joel Howard
There's a desert in the land
There's a war all around
I'm surrounded by enemies
Yet a table is on the ground
There is pain in my vision
People hurting, people dying
Scarcity is running rampant
Yet I am overflowing
I don't have to abide by the famine
I don't have to pretend I'm dead
I can live new life with my Savior
I can cling to him instead
I don't have to live by the mission
That says "duck, run and hide"
I don't have to live defeated
When deep inside I'm alive!
There's a blackout in the earth
There's a great shortage of oil
Hungry souls need feeding
Yet a storehouse in my soul
It's a hospital in all places
Wounded hearts, broken vessels
Defenseless and forgotten
Yet my Savior knows my need
I don't have to abide by the culture
I don't have to follow her rules
I don't have to prostitute to others
What belongs only to God
I don't have to fear my brothers
I don't have to live eye for an eye
I don't have to live defeated
When deep inside I'm alive!
It's a miracle of grace
And I'm free to talk about it!
This ground's a holy place
Its just that we've forgotten
God is here and he abounds
Savior holds all we need
So if a famine is what you feel
Then, child, go ahead and feed!
