When I am rushed

A prayer of a troubled heart seeking to find Christ's calm

I am faced

with a great 

temptation

Satan's spit

follows his 

tangible words

"You must bow

To a god other than Abba; 

You must surrender

Your soul to an idol."

I am gripped

by the hot fires

of hell

Even Christ knew

the temperature

oh so well

"Don't give in

To this Jesus and his

pitiful plea. Just bow down

and worship a heavenless king -

Just bow down and worship

ME." 

To move on is to rush

To speed ahead is 

culture's game

and everyone's playing...

So I slow - so I steady 

My heart and my soul

So I stop - and I rest

In the waters of God

So I slow - so I steady

My heart and soul

Before the King of ages

I come, I return

So I slow - so I steady

My heart and my will

I give my attention

To Heaven's embrace

I will study the pages

You wrote before the ages

I steady my will

I rein in my heart

I stop and resist 

The urge to persist

I follow your cloud

In the skies above

It requires that I listen

Requires that I love

I return to the pages

I return to your heart

This is how the beloved

Of God shall walk

This is how the beloved

returns
